Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda

PPT: Pitch-perfect comedy Timing!

Pandavalu Pandavalu Thummeda (PPT), touted as Manchu clan's multi-starrer, has garnered great buzz ever since it hit the floors. The movie marks the comeback of veteran actor Mohan Babu in a lead role, nearly after a decade. It also showcases Manchu Manoj in a never-before-seen role Mohini (draped in a sari). Director Dasari Narayana Rao donned grease paint after a while for a hilarious cameo. All these aspects created enough hype around the film. Let's sneak into the film to see how far they fetched!

Plot: Crisply, the movie is all about Naidu's (Mohan Babu) family and his five "orphan" sons Pandavalu- Vijju (Vishnu), Ajay (Manoj), Varun Sandesh and (Lucky) Tanish.

Mohan Babu (Naidu) is a foster, doting father to Manoj, Varun Sandesh and Tanish whereas Raveena is foster, caring mother to Vishnu and Vennela Kishore. With a sudden turn of events, both the two single families club to form a large family. Like any other family, it too goes through its rough phase. Yet, they brushes off their differences soon and gets united. Thanks to Honey (Hansika) who played pivotal role in family's union. Hansika has a troublesome background that pushes her into neck-deep difficulties. How Naidu's family steps in to save the girl (Honey)? What are the hurdles that come in between form the film.

Performances: The film's stellar cast-Mohan Babu, Vishnu, Manoj, Raveena Tandon, Hansika, Pranitha- is the big asset for the film. Of course, their pitch-perfect performances carry of the film totally. For Mohan Babu, Vishnu and Manoj essaying these characters is like a piece of cake. Everyone fit the bill and gave their best performances. After a longtime, one could watch Mohan Babu flexing his muscle and doing a jig. Yes, he enthralls us with his trademark acts and dialogue-delivery.

Vishnu is natural at his acting and does his best. One could watch the most stylish Vishnu as a gambler in the film. Vishnu's chemistry with Hansika worked out well and does magic again. Perhaps, it's a record that Vishnu-Hansika scored three hits in a row.

Manchu Manoj, who showcases myriad variations in his character, deserve a pat on his back. Especially, his lady getup Mohini steals the show. Manoj, who did it with so ease, bags extra brownie points. Pranitha's glam show, Brahmanandam's humour touch are icing on the cake.

Direction: Director Srivas has hit a jackpot with this out-and-out entertainer. With a good star cast , it's a cake walk for Srivas.

Music: Music by Baba Sehgal, Achu and Keeravani is soothing and easy on ears. Lyrics are equally good.

Technical aspects: Songs, scenes shot against picturesque foreign locales (Bangkok) are visual treat.

Thumbs up:

1. Ensemble cast
2. Title
3. Witty dialogues
4. Commercial elements
5. Cinematography
6. Picturesque locales

Thumbs down:

1. Cliches
2. Minor editing errors
3. Predictable twists

Analysis:  After Denikaina Ready and Doosukeltha, Manchu Vishnu has clocked a hat-trick hit. The film is totally engaging and funny. Director and writers tactically got the nerve of Telugu audiences- the film tickles your funny bone to the hilt. After all, that's what common audience expect.

If director could have avoided few cliches, minor editing errors and predictable twists, the movie could have become a classic comedy.

On whole, the movie is a breathe of fresh air with right doses of comedy, sentiment, romance, action. But the only disappointment for Manchu fans is they will sure miss Manchu Lakshmi. Wish, director Srivas should have penned a well-conceive role for Lakshmi.

Bottom line: The film has all the elements to satiate your hunger. Watching PPT (Pandavalu Pandavalu Tummeda) is treating yourself as it gives you a new experience altogether.

"Attarintiki Daredi" (AD) is completing 50 days at the box office today (15 November).
The Pawan Kalyan starrer that released on 27 September continues to perform well despite new releases. The entire "AD" team is overwhelmed by the response received from audience, despite facing piracy issues.
A 90-minute video footage of "AD" was illegally leaked online, before the film released. Despite the leaked video, fans flocked to theatres to watch their favourite star on screen. Armed with positive feedback from critics and audience alike, "AD" fared well in Indian and overseas markets. The film has earned over ₹73 crore in worldwide share and has turned out to be one of the biggest hits of Telugu cinema.

The family entertainer had a successful run for several weeks as no other new releases could give strong competition to the Pawan Kalyan starrer. Although the film's collections have dropped in the last few weeks, it is still continuing its successful run in several theatres. In a bid to thank audience support, "AD" makers added six more minutes of footage to the film as a special Diwali treat for fans.

Masala Telugu Movie Review, Rating | Venkatesh | Ram | Live, Tweet Updates | Story
Masala movie is a remake film as known to most of us. Remake story is nothing but carrying a first aid box, tool box and a ‘Stepney’ while proceeding on a journey when we foresee some unusual travel conditions. You know the way to win. Hence chances of risk are minimal. That is the reason why when Hero of Venkatesh stature speaks, thats enough to take up a remake story. In the same way, his eye fell on Bol Bachchan. Venkatesh took very less time to decide. That too the story line also matches Venky’s capability. He thought he can easily perform the role. And that is the reason why another remake movie came to us in the form of Masala. Did Venky’s thought succeed ? Was his journey safe? To know we must taste the new flavour of Masala formed by Venky and Ram.

Rahman (Ram) & Sania(Anjali) are siblings. They grew up in problematic childhood. Ram is unemployed. Their ancestral property issue is dragging in courts since years. Their life has become miserable in native place. They had to leave their home town. They enter Balram (Venkatesh) town. Balram is the head of the town. With a hope of a livelihood with Balram, Rahman in a tricky situation had to introduce himself as Ram. A muslim is managing to live like a Hindu. Rahman is seen in a masjid. Another lie to cover the first, saying he was his brother Rahman and he is Ram. This lead to two roles in Rahman. How Rahman managed to dole his two roles and how he untied the entangled knot is the story of Masala.

Bol Bachchan story is not so new. It was a combination of 4 to 5 telugu movies put together. Vijay Bhaskar tried to copy the story inch by inch in Telugu. Ofcourse, he very well knew how to deal with such storylines and add comedy makeups to it. Vijay Bhaskar didn’t try to use his own brain at all. Even while customising Ram and Venky in telugu flavour he missed. Probably producers have instructed him to follow same to same. Or he must have decided not to take risk, he never went for any modifications or improvements.

Venkatesh, an international cricketer was made to play street cricket. Venky’s situation was such. He effortlessly portrayed entraining role of Balram. His butler english dialogues brought good amount of laughter provided you must understand english. Chiru also used such slang in Shankar dada MBBS but difference is he used most popular telugu proverbs. Core telugu audience followed easily. But that magic didn’t happen here.

Ram’s energy is seen well in the movie. We can’t expect Abhishek Bachchan’s strength, but upto his capacity he justified. No one would be ready to take up the character he played. Ram’s skills are applaudable. Anjali and Shazahn are less important characters. Anjali looked plumpy. Shazahn could not register her face despite being attractive. Ali and MS Narayana’s roles are OK. Its a variety role for Jayprakash Reddy this time. After Ram and Venky he stands next in marks list.
As we all know, Thaman’s music is “Singing the old song”. Remake rights are bought officially, but Thaman is known in lifting tunes of others from back doors. RR is also copied. He used leftout RR of Bodyguard in this movie. Andrew’s camera skills are appreciable. He tried to expose scenes lavishly.
First half has some lapses. Comedy without any logical link. Story remains at the same place where it started even after an hour. Every character of the movie is designed for comedy. People also will laugh. But the actual thread which is supposed to bind the comedy line is missing. We many times get a feeling of watching continuous comedy bits in a TV serial. This movie is created believing the strength of entertainment with support of Ram and Venky.
Its worth when you make up your mind to just go and laugh, for some time. If you expect more than that, mistake would be yours.

Telugu Mirchi Rating : 3.0/5

For a long time now, Ram Gopal Varma has been teetering on the brink of a career collapse. His latest offering Satya 2 adds a little extra push on his back for a descent into the oblivion.

The movie, though titled to pass off as a sequel, has nothing in common with the 1998 gamechanger apart from the shabby gunslingers and the seedy underworld dens they hole selves in. A decidedly glum fellow named Satya (Puneet Singh Ratn) arrives in Mumbai armed with his persistent scowl, tons of confidence and no less bad intentions. It’s the Mumbai without the underworld, we’re told. The old malcontents have retired, thrown behind bars, or taken the natural route to politics. But this new Satya of Ramu aims to revive the underworld, start a company that would hold the system and the powers that be to a ransom. Industrialists, cops, media, all in the crosshairs of his gunsight. On the side, he takes out time to woo a girl (Anaika Soti) who lord knows what she sees in him to reciprocate his overtures.

This new Company that Satya starts is different from the previous such anathemas. This one is visible only by its actions than by the actors, by its casualties than its entity. And to all the bloodbath, Ram Gopal Varma gives a moral justification through a voiceover one can’t but be amused by. The justification is: the bad which is done for larger good, is good. Go figure!

Ramu’s 1998 flick Satya had at its heart a taut screenplay, finely etched characters played by actors one better than the other. Satya 2 has at its heart the fear of a filmmaker who has put his last penny on his most trusted pony to win him the losing day. But as Ramu should have learned from the tragic-comedy of Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, you can’t make the same soufflé twice.

So what we have in Satya 2 is a bouquet of sequences cherry-picked from Ramu’s own films -- both good and bad -- and cobbled into a threadbare story by Radhika Anand. Ramu does his bit by assaulting our dear senses with blaring background score and by vertiginous camera angles that makes one wonder if the cameraman had a spin in a washing machine before calling the shots.

The actors contribute no less in the damage. Puneet Singh Ratn tries to act imperious, cold and bold, but doesn’t command much screen presence. From the sidelines, only Mahesh Thakur, as a swanking, rotund builder leaves a mark. Anaita Soti (as Satya’s ladylove) and Aradhna Gupta don’t get much scope, and thankfully so.

Satya 2 is amongst Ramu’s tackiest films and they are not few by any count. The only thing admirable about it is the director’s resilience. By the dozen his career obits have been penned, but the dogged filmmaker keeps going one worse on his previous disasters. For that consistency he has my admiration.
